“This is a traditional pub in the heart of Edinburgh, only with a slight twist – there’s a poet’s lounge downstairs! The staff can sometimes seem a little blunt, there’s service only not always with a smile. I kind of like not being fussed over though so this place suits me down to a tee. Or a G&T.”

“We got here late, not long before last orders, and the staff were quite surly and didn’t really make us feel welcome. I wouldn’t go back. There are better pubs on Rose Street. It was cheap though, and we were intrigued by the ‘Poets bar’ downstairs.”
