“Well, had to give Oloroso a try as there have been a few bad reviews a couple of stinkers but 90 % very good to very very good on the net so I gave it a bash when I was visiting Edinburgh in August (yep during the festival the time you are most likely to suffer from bad everything in the city). Anyway we must of got one of the few evenings when the weather was ok and we where on the restaurant fantastic terrace for pre dinner drinks, the views are worth going for but, the service, the drinks list, the Staff, The staff where great nothing was to much trouble for them and they where more than helpful they where fun. The food was amazing, some dishes where simple but so flavoursome and the steaks a couple of the guys had were the best they have out side off the USA, I would definitely recommend this Restaurant to any one who want to enjoy the best of what Scotland has to offer.”

“I went to Oloroso 4 weeks ago and I wasn’t impressed. My partner and I both had the steak and the quality of the meat was so poor. Both steaks were full of gristle and my partner barely ate his. His chips were big chunks of potato not cooked all the way through. We actually complained to the first waitress and we received a sympathetic “hmmm”. When it came to paying the bill, we clearly stated “we did not enjoy the meal as the steak was so full of gristle and hardly edible” she offered to pass our comments onto the chef but nothing was really done. I wanted to complain to the manager but as it was late (we only had one course and it took us nearly 2 hours between waiting for menus, to be served and our food) and my partner wanted to leave. The worse thing about Oloroso is that I have written them 2 e-mails of complaint and they have not even acknowledged them. That’s just plain old bad manners.”

“Arrogant, self-serving, rude, slow and self-important staff. This place 'should' have been one of the best venues in Edinburgh. It has gone down hill since it opened. Don't be fooled by the views and decor - this place will frustrate the life out of you. I lost my will to live dealing with the poor service! The door policy is best described as 'arbitrary'.”

“Food is extremely bad, waited 45min for starter of smoked salmon, main course was bland & heavily salted. Staff are amateurs and not attentive. Over priced and not worth 1 star. If you are going to spend that amount of money, go to Witchery Restaurant - far superior.”
