“Visited the Witchery restaurant for wedding anniversary, I was very disappointed I had built up in my mind that the place would be enchanting, romantic and the food sumptuous, did not meet my expectations.
We had to endure noisy children to start with not a setting for a romantic meal. The food was overly priced - the £30 menu did not have a good variety to choose from, the main menu very over priced, I ordered the chicken £27 for the smallest piece of chicken with mash potato and green beans nothing special. The staff were pleasant when at our table but the smiles disappeared when they walked away and seemed more interest in customers who were purchasing expensive wines! When we left tables were crammed in at the stairs and we had to disturb other diners so that we could gain access to the stairs. Very very disappointed.”

“Extremely disappointing wedding anniversary meal and terrible night's stay at The Witchery. For a 'restaurant with rooms' it's laughable that we managed to neither eat or sleep there!
We sat for over 15 mins with no menus, then once we were served (by a slow and disinterested waiter). The menu contained nothing seasonal and clearly hadn't changed in months (if not years) - not the sign of a good restaurant. The choices were limited and there were really only one or two things I fancied, you would expect in a restaurant with this reputation (and prices) that you would be spoilt for choice.
After ordering we waited another 30 minutes before our wine and starters materialised (after reminding twice).
The food was so bad we sent it back twice and then decided to leave. Leathery meat (also raw in the middle), gritty langoustines, flaccid chips and rancid cheese is not what you'd expect anywhere, let alone at this price.”
